Terms of Business

I am registered with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), formally CRB, update service . Parents who are considering tuition for their child can make a check online. The result is up to date and takes seconds to access. You will require a code and this can be provided prior to tuition being undertaken. Alternatively, I have up to date paper documentation which can be provided on request.

Payment is welcomed by cash or bank transfer which I ask to be paid promptly on receipt of your invoice. Invoices are sent out by email at the end of each month for that month's lessons. Full payment is required within 21 days of receiving the invoice. If you prefer to pay after each lesson that's fine, I do try to keep things as convenient for people as possible. 

Late Payment

A polite reminder will be sent after 21 days and if the invoice remains outstanding longer than 28 days but less than 35 days a late payment charge of £10 will be added to the bill. After 35 days a final reminder will be sent and if the invoice remains outstanding beyond 40 days of the date of invoice, a further £25 will be charged, tuition will be terminated and legal action will be taken to recover the outstanding amount and the costs associated with this.

Lesson Cancellation

If you need to cancel a lesson for any reason, I do ask for at least 24 hours' notice so that I am able to offer the slot to someone else. I will always try to rearrange the lesson for a more convenient time, however, this isn't always possible during the same week. I completely understand that illness and unforseen circumstances don't allow for 24 hours notice to always be given, however if I am unable to fill the slot, I reserve the right to charge 50% of the lesson price. In the event of a lesson being cancelled within two hours or in the event of a 'No Show', I reserve the right to charge the full price of the missed lesson. 

If I need to cancel a lesson for a particular reason, I will always try to give as much notice as possible and will offer as many alternative slots as I am able to. Naturally, no charge will be made in these circumstances.

Notice Period

Should you wish to end tuition with me, two weeks' notice is required. This allows me time to ensure that your child's learning finishes in an appropriate place and that any loose ends are tied up. 

All materials are provided for each lesson  including exercise books, workbooks, pencils, homework wallet and textbooks. These are included within the lesson price. Should any books be taken home and lost a charge equal to the cost of replacements will be added to your monthly bill.

Private tuition doesn't guarantee a pass or particular grade in an exam and although I aim to provide children with the necessary skills and understanding to achieve their very best, it's very much dependent on hard work and determination on their part too. I always provide feedback after lessons and I am happy to arrange a meeting with parents at a mutual time to discuss their child's progress in more detail.
